Der Kapitalismus kann alles in eine Ware verwandeln, die auf dem Markt verkauft wird, um den Gewinn zu maximieren. Selbst Aspekte unserer Sexualität und gender Geschlechts werden Teil eines groß angelegten Geschäftsplans. Das lässt sich an verschiedenen „Pride“-Festivals und -Paraden beobachten, die von Unternehmen oder politischen Parteien gesponsert werden und als Werbekampagnen für Firmen dienen, die uns davon überzeugen wollen, dass alles in Ordnung ist, solange ihr schmutziges Geschäft unter der Regenbogenfahne betrieben wird.

In June 2026, we took part in a “Pride” event in Graz with our “pirate bar.” Before that, someone had expropriated alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from the capitalist temples of consumerism and brought them to the Lotta Occupato squat , where the mobile bar was decorated and set up. Cocktails and other drinks were then served for voluntary donations. With this small subversive gesture, we siphoned off a portion of the revenue from the “rainbow capitalists.” However, we didn’t invest the money we collected into expanding our business, as the bigwigs* behind pinkwashing campaigns would have done. The 320 euros we collected were transferred to the “Solidarity is the Way” solidarity network fund, which will use the funds to organize practical assistance for deserters and refugees from the war zone in Ukraine.

Thanks to everyone who took a drink, made a voluntary contribution, and/or discussed why (rainbow) capitalism cannot bring liberation to queer people or any other oppressed groups and individuals.

Capitalism can turn anything into a commodity that is sold on the market to maximize profit. Even aspects of our sexuality and gender become part of a grand business plan. A construction company is continuing to demolish the building that was once the evicted squat “Lotta occupato.” Someone has painted graffiti on the ruins of the building in support of squatting and against gentrification.

Eine Baufirma setzt den Abriss des Gebäudes fort, in dem sich einst die geräumte besetzte Wohnung „Lotta occupato“ befand. Jemand hat Graffiti auf die Ruinen des Gebäudes gesprüht, um das Hausbesetzen zu unterstützen und sich gegen Gentrifizierung auszusprechen.

Am Montag, dem 29. Juni, wurde das besetzte Haus „Lotta occupato“ in Graz geräumt. Die Räumung wurde von Mitarbeitern einer Baufirma unter Unterstützung der Polizei durchgeführt. Auch der Eigentümer der Gebäude und des Grundstücks war vor Ort und verhielt sich äußerst arrogant und aggressiv.

Die Hausbesetzer hatten die Fenster und Türen mit Brettern vernagelt, doch den Eindringlingen gelang es trotzdem, ins Innere zu gelangen. Niemand wurde festgenommen oder wegen einer Straftat angeklagt. Kurz nach der Räumung des besetzten Hauses begann der Abriss der Gebäude, damit auf dem Gelände weitere Luxuswohnungen errichtet werden können.

Sie haben uns unser Zuhause weggenommen. Sie haben einen Ort zerstört, der Menschen Zuflucht vor dem Krieg bot. Jetzt wird es hier noch mehr sterile Wohnungen geben, die nur den Reichen zugänglich sind.

Wir haben eine Schlacht verloren, aber unser Kampf geht weiter. Wir erkennen das bürgerliche Recht auf Privateigentum nicht an. Wir wissen, dass der Weg der Bourgeoisie zum Reichtum mit dem Leid der Arbeiterklasse gepflastert ist. Wir sind Unruhestifter, die dafür sorgen werden, dass es die Reichen nicht leicht haben. Jedes Mal, wenn sie uns aus unserem Zuhause auf die Straße werfen, klettern wir durch ein Fenster in ein anderes leerstehendes Haus in der Nachbarschaft.

On Monday, June 29, the “squat Lotta occupato” in Graz was evicted. The eviction was carried out by workers from a construction company, assisted by the police. The owner of the buildings and the land also arrived and behaved in a very arrogant and aggressive manner.

The squatters had boarded up the windows and doors, but the intruders managed to get inside anyway. No one was arrested or charged with any crimes. Shortly after the squat was cleared, demolition of the buildings began so that more luxury apartments could be built on the site.

They took our home away from us. They destroyed a place that served people fleeing the war. Now there will be more sterile apartments here, accessible only to the rich.

We lost one battle, but our struggle continues. We do not respect the bourgeois right to private property. We know that the bourgeoisie’s path to wealth is paved with the suffering of the working class. We are troublemakers who will make sure that the rich don’t have it easy. Every time they kick us out of our home and onto the street, we climb through a window into another empty house in the neighborhood.

„Lotta Occupato“ ist ein besetztes Haus in der Stadt Graz, in dem Land, das als Österreich bekannt ist. Das Projekt wurde im Spätsommer 2025 ins Leben gerufen, zu einer Zeit, als alle Gebäude schmutzig und mit Müll überfüllt waren. Die Besetzer räumen nach und nach das Chaos im Inneren auf und reparieren kaputte Einrichtungen. Sie haben ein Zuhause geschaffen, in dem Menschen, Hunde und andere Tiere in Würde leben können. Das Haus bietet zudem Menschen, die aus der Ukraine geflohen sind, um Zwangsrekrutierung, Verfolgung oder den Tod an der Front zu entgehen, vorübergehend Unterkunft und Verpflegung.

Derzeit droht dem Haus die Räumung und der Abriss. Die Hausbesetzer weigern sich, ihre Wohnung zu verlassen, und wollen Widerstand leisten. Wir bitten um Ihre Unterstützung, damit wir uns gegen diese Räumungsversuche wehren können.

Lotta Occupato is a squat in the city of Graz, in what is known as Austria. The project was launched in late summer 2025, at a time when all buildings were filthy and overflowing with trash. The squatters are gradually cleaning up the mess inside and repairing broken equipment. They have created a home where people, dogs, and other animals can live with dignity. The squat also provides temporary shelter and food to people who have fled Ukraine to avoid forced conscription, persecution, or being killed on the front lines.

Currently, the squat faces eviction and demolition. The squatters refuse to leave their home and intend to resist. We ask for your support to help us stand up to these eviction attempts.
